the theme of "wintery pin-ups" was a fun one... i'm glad they asked me to send a piece along.

every year, the convention puts out a beautiful book (sales going to charity!) with the theme "monsters and dames". i was asked to submit a piece... and it turns out it's going into the book!
there are some AMAZING names on the list this year and i'm thrilled to have my name alongside them.

i'd heard that these may hit the fast food chain in january or february... and someone tweeted last night that they got one... so i figured it's okay to post about this!
right now, if you ask for the "under 3" toy in a taco bell kids meal, you get one of THREE jim henson's fraggle rock mini-board books that i wrote and illustrated!
if that's not an incentive for you to go to taco bell for lunch tomorrow, i don't know what is.

they turned out super cute and i am THRILLED to have been able to contribute to the fraggle rock universe once again! i hope everyone likes them. tell the good folks at the jim henson company that you want more fraggle rock! (...from me).
also, i snuck in gronk on one of the postcards on a cover. hehe!

these are my cards for the TOPPS star wars galaxy 7 trading card set. these cards will be inserted at random into pack of the cards.
i've drawn a LOT of star wars sketch cards over the past several years... and now that i'm sure i've drawn every single scene EVER from the movies, my challege is to come up with something unique with every set. so, this time around, i focused on the ladies of star wars... and puzzle cards. i wanted to do my more "pin-up girl" style with the top card and a cute lil' version of the same outfit on the bottom. good luck completing a set, collectors ;)

one of my favorite things i got to work on in 2011 was Archaia's anthology for Jim Henson's "The Storyteller". I was SO thrilled when i was asked to write and draw a story for it... as it's such an amazing the original Storyteller show is one of my favorite things from my childhood.
well, the book is out now! so go buy it :)
the book has an AMAZING LIST OF CREATORS. seriously, i'm the nobody on the list. i'm honored to be in a book with so many people i look up to. I'm talking Colleen Coover, Roger Langridge, Majorie Liu, Ron Marz, Jeff Parker, Paul Tobin,Tom Fowler, Roger Langridge, Mike Maihack, Jennifer L. Meyer, Craig Rousseau and Evan Shaner... plus me. all wonderfully put together through the editor extrodinaire, Nate Cosby!
i have an 8 page story that i wrote and illustrated called "the crane wife"
i was told to work in a VERY DIFFERENT style then i normally do. it's not quite as cutesy-wootsy-shmootsy as i currently work. it's different, i got a chance to branch out a bit and i had a great time doing it.
i also got to write... something that i have really been expanding into lately and i couldn't be prouder.

anyways... i had SO much fun working on this. i'm thankful archaia and the jim henson company let me be part of their world once again. i hope everyone enjoys it. the book is getting PHENOMINAL reviews so far, and that gives me the warm fuzzies.
a very nice guy commissioned me to draw one scene from each of the harry potter books. this is what i came up with! each of these is 17" x 5" and painted in watercolor. also, i love harry potter!!!

This artwork was specifically created as part of an effort to support a young man fighting to beat Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Aidan is currently going through chemotherapy and all proceeds from the auction of this illustration will go to pay for his treatment through the Tom Crawford Leadership Children Foundation thanks to the Katie's generosity, and the efforts of Christine Mignola.
About Aidan
On September 13, 2010, 5-year-old Aidan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). He was strong and pulled through his first round of chemo all while teasing his nurses and visitors. Although this was a small victory Aidan unfortunately must go through 2 to 3 more years of chemo treatments and everything that goes along with it.
