last week, i went on a bit of a silly ramble on twitter about what MY batman book would be like.
...then it perked the interest of many a folk.
jill over at newsarama wrote about it:
as did chris over at comic alliance:
(they collect the tweets and some of the little doodles i did in both articles. go give 'em a read!)
but, basically, batman, after watching his parents die before him, sees a bat as he stands in the alley... and therefor thinks he's a bat. probably some kind of post-tramatic stress thingy. he's a kid, and he makes up villains in his head (catwoman is actually just his cat).
anyways. it's a fun idea that i'm sure DC will never allow me to attempt, and that does make me a sad panda... but it's okay. i can pretend it exists in my head. also, i quickly doodled up this very silly 3-panel start to it. (forgive it's terribleness. it was more of a thumbnail for a page... then i realized i had other work i needed to be doing to pay my mortgage and gave up on it).
so i'll be in toronto in a few days! you should come see me... and bring me canadian-type offerings of friendship (like a moose or a box of tim hortons timbits)
MY TABLE NUMBER IS P39. i will have prints, copies of the gronk book and "f**k you, box". i'll also have original art for sale!
i have 2 panels that i am part of...
on FRIDAY at 5:30 pm, i am doing a SKETCH DUEL! (room #716)
the artists i am up against are jill thompson, agnes garbowska and sara richard! the 4 of us on one stage, drawing away? this promises to be kind of badass, don't miss it!
on SATURDAY at 2 pm, i am the focus of a panel called "cute reboot: creating fun comics for kids with katie cook" (room #717)
please come to this panel so it's not just me and the moderator staring at eachother... him with a sympathetic tilt to his head that no one came to my panel... me with tears threatening to spill forth from my wide, sad eyes because no one loves me.
sorry for the teeny lack of updates this month. life with conventions as a mom is INSANE! yikes!
first up, the gronk book is now available! pre-orders have already started shipping (with a few stragglers still sitting on my table that will go out later this week. putting all those bookplates into the books? it was a task).
you can buy the book here: http://katiecandraw.bigcartel.com/product/level-1-gronk-book-pre-order
you can ALSO now buy a PHYSICAL copy of "F**K YOU, BOX" again... now with a nice, glossy cover and perfect bound spine.

my FAVORITE NERD ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME has a new album!
Kirby Krackle's newest rock-out is called "super powered love"... and i didn't do the cover art, but i did the art for the lyric booklet inside! here's a peek:
you ONLY get the lyric booklet if you purchase the actual CD from them... (not the itunes download)... so buy it now! (or, just buy the itunes version. buy all their albums. they rock)
buy the physical cd here: http://www.kirbykracklemusic.com/store.html
in other news, my daughter continues to be FREAKIN' ADORABLE.
