so, a while back, Strathmore Papers asked me to do an illustration that they could use on the covers of some new blue-lined comic board.
really, i'm not kidding! lil' ol' me! my art!
they wanted a drawing from pencils to inks to colors that they could break up for the packaging art... and they're beginning to (finally) announce and promote the line.
here is the art that i gave them (they wanted something hero-ish yet cute):
i don't have a full-sized jpeg of what they did with it (or a product sample) yet, but you can kind of see it on the webiste:
when i have a product sample, i'll post it :)
...also... and most embarrassing for me (though ryan is getting a HUGE kick out of it) it would appear that the cover of strathmore's little spring promotional catalogue has a familiar lookin' face on it:
...i was under the impression that this picture would be tiny and on the website.
...guess not. *blush*
also note, david petersen did a cover too! that's because david is the bee's knees.
wow that's really neato! i think the photo of you is nice...never having actually met you i can't really say with any certainty that it is actually you and not a cardboard stand-in. but my congrats to you and your cardboard look-a-like. (oh and i love the giant 3PO guarding your markers...)

I guess you're sorta stuck with Strathmore forevermore, huh? It'd be like Jordan caught wearing Addidas. Katie, the face of Strathmore.

I was at Dick Blick last Sunday, was looking for a bristol pad, and saw this out of the corner of my eye. I thought "Hey, that looks like Katie Coo... HEY!!!"
