so i drove into my driveway earlier (as i often do). i got out of my car and heard the loudest *scream* i've ever heard come from a cat. i looked over at the bushes of the house next door and saw a small black cat tangled in it. i walked over and saw a WAY too tight collar (digging into his skin, hair matted or having ceased to grow anymore under it) caught on a limb in what i assume was the cat's last ditch attempt to get the collar off before the thing choked him :/ i broke of the branch and got the collar off. the cat was very still during the whole process. after that, he slumped in my lap and nuzzled my stomach. uh oh. there was another cat that played a similar trick on me a few years back... the thought of "oh! i'll just nurse it back to health and foster him for another family!" came and went. THAT cat? ipod. you can see how that turned out so ryan and i have the little cat cooped up in the spare dog crate with some essentials until we get him to the vet in the morning. (i don't want him around the other pets until he has a clean bill of health, also he needs to be fixed, which we'll also take care of) he's been purring his little head off whenever i come near him. i brought him out for a bit and he curled up in my lap and feel asleep. apparently, one of the other cats has already gotten to him and told him i'm a complete sucker. so if all goes well, we may keep the lil' guy (or try and find a new home for him). ryan and i tried to take in a 3rd cat a while back and little Jake didn't last very long. he was sick before we got him and it was really disheartening to finally see him start coming around only to have to go through losing him. perhaps it's time to try again? (although this kitty looks a little like jake... and the joke about naming him "jake 2 : electric boogaloo" has come up) so, i'll keep everyone updated on the little guy! for now, he's curled up on a towel and snoozing.
I hope he has a clean bill of health...and you'll be able to keep him. I believe you're the right ones to love him like he deserves. Animals need more people like you two.
I enjoy hearing from you with stories like this. Thank you.

Awww, that is too cute. I hope the little guy can become a part of your feline family!

If you would've called him "jake 2 : electric boogaloo", does that make you "Special K" and would Ryan be "Ozone" or "Turbo"? :-P
