katie announces her biggest project to date...

fun, life altering fact BESIDES that i just left a secure, full-time job at a studio in order to try and make my living with my art...

ryan and i started talking months ago about me leaving my job. it was not a will-nilly thing. we were planning for it, scared for it, considering when the best time to be would be ("should i stay another year?" etc)... then i typed up my notice, printed it up and said "i'm handing this in on xxxx date". We were ready to take a chance. 

and then i found out i was pregnant. 

not sure if this was a sign to STAY gainfully employed or to work for myself... i STILL turned in my notice.... now ready to stay at home with my art, my cats... and now, my kid.

the little nerd is due in late december. (i apologize to the kid in advance for lumping his/her birthday in with the holidays) 

yes, ryan and i are very excited. 

yes, i am extremely terrified. 

yes, the cats are very upset. 

(i apologize to the people i (used) to work with for not telling you before i left. 1) i had a few people i was seeing last night that i wanted to tell in person, so i didn't want to risk a million facebook wallposts of "omg! congrats" and blow the surprise and 2)i didn't want to lump the craziness of my last day with the news)

but...uh... yeah... baby. 

yep. freakin' out.

a while back, i announced that i was designing a t-shirt for ashley eckstein's new apparel and accessory line "her universe". (ashley is the voice of ahsoka tano in the clone wars!)

i'm VERY excited about her new line of clothes aimed for girl geeks... it's fresh, fun and totally awesome.

my last day of work at the studio is tomorrow (eep!) i will be spending friday catching up on the gajillion outstanding e-mails in my inbox, the the weekend working on my ACME ESB limithed edition print.... then DRAWING ALL THE OUTSTANDiNG COMMISSIONS ON MY PLATE RIGHT UP UNTIL COMIC CON! woo! you guys will finally all be getting you art!

katie's star wars Celebration V limited edition print

so starwars.com showed a tiny peek of my ACME star wars Celebration print! (http://starwars.com/fans/events/celebration_v_artists_1/index.html), so, for those who do NOT have eagle eyes, i'm posting a slightly larger version of it for you to look at :)

I have decided to do a print run of 200 prints, not 250. 

since I have gotten a slew of e-mails since this was shown on starwars.com... i'll answer some questions.

-no, i will not reserve a specific number for you. it is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. 

-if you want me to do a doodle under my signature, I will AT the show in Orlando or if you bring it to me at another show. 

-do NOT ask to ship it to me so i can draw in the margins, I will not take responsibility for it being damaged in shipping. 

-i doubt I will sell out by the end of the show and after that, you cannot buy them from me. they will be available ONLINE through the starwars.com shop. 

-the piece is 36" x 9"... sorry framers. 

-the price is TBD. i will announce it as soon as i can.
