"bats!"... katie's idea for batman that will never be

last week, i went on a bit of a silly ramble on twitter about what MY batman book would be like. 

...then it perked the interest of many a folk.

but, basically, batman, after watching his parents die before him, sees a bat as he stands in the alley... and therefor thinks he's a bat. probably some kind of post-tramatic stress thingy. he's a kid, and he makes up villains in his head (catwoman is actually just his cat). 

anyways. it's a fun idea that i'm sure DC will never allow me to attempt, and that does make me a sad panda... but it's okay. i can pretend it exists in my head. also, i quickly doodled up this very silly 3-panel start to it. (forgive it's terribleness. it was more of a thumbnail for a page... then i realized i had other work i needed to be doing to pay my mortgage and gave up on it).

the artists i am up against are jill thompson, agnes garbowska and sara richard! the 4 of us on one stage, drawing away? this promises to be kind of badass, don't miss it!

 

on SATURDAY at 2 pm, i am the focus of a panel called "cute reboot: creating fun comics for kids with katie cook" (room #717)

please come to this panel so it's not just me and the moderator staring at eachother... him with a sympathetic tilt to his head that no one came to my panel... me with tears threatening to spill forth from my wide, sad eyes because no one loves me.
